State Rural Health Associations (SRHAs) promote issues important to rural communities at the local and state levels and are an integral part of the grassroots advocacy efforts of the National Rural Health Association (NRHA).

Each year, the NRHA sponsors a Skill-building Workshop for state rural health associations. This event provides an opportunity for SRHA leaders to learn from each other, and to develop skills that they need in achieving the goals of their own SRHA. Previous workshops have included topics such as Legal and Tax Issues for Non-Profit Organizations, Marketing Your SRHA, Membership Development and Media Relations for SRHAs.

The workshop is open to staff and members of state rural health associations, and there is no charge for individuals affiliated with SRHAs that are members of the NRHA's State Association Council.

Plan now to attend the NRHA Minority and Multicultural Conference in Albuquerque, NM. The goals and objectives of the conference are:  To provide a forum to examine issues related to connecting the need for partnerships between economic development and rural health among minority and multi-cultural populations; to identify the environmental and developmental challenges faced by health care agencies seeking to serve rural minority & multicultural populations; to identify the barriers and/or challenges to linking economic development and health care to rural minority & multicultural populations; and to identify best practices & methodologies toward forging partnerships among economic development and rural minority and multicultural populations.
