The National Rural Health Association offers a variety of continuing education opportunities for all rural health professionals. Through national educational conferences and workshops held throughout the year, the NRHA provides relevant and timely information on clinical and quality issues, rural public health, health education, and many more important topics. Working with state and national professional associations, the NRHA offers conference and workshop attendees a variety of ways to stay informed and earn the credit hours necessary for professional advancement.
Physicians
The NRHA hosts several conferences and workshops each year accredited by the American Academy of Family Physicians for continuing medical education hours.
The 31st Annual Conference has been reviewed and
is acceptable for up to 13.50 credits by the American Academy of Family
Physicians.
Of these credits, 1.25 conform to the AAFP criteria for evidence-based
CME clinical content. CME credit has been increased to reflect two for
one credit only for the EB CME portion. When reporting AAFP credit,
report total prescribed and elective credit for this activity. It is
not necessary to label credit as evidence-based CME for reporting
purposes.
The
EB CME credit awarded for this activity was based on the practice
recommendations that were the most current with the strongest level of
evidence available at the time the activity was approved. Since
clinical research is ongoing, AAFP recommends learners verify sources
and review these and other recommendations prior to implementation into
practice.
The NRHA is seeking AAFP approved CME credits for the 2007 Quality and Clinical Conference.
Nurse Practitioners
The 31st Annual Rural Health Conference has been approved for 14.25
contact hours of continuing education by the American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners. Program ID 0802067.
Health Education Specialists
The National Rural Health Association is designated as a provider of
Category 1 continuing education contact hours in health education by
the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. The
31st Annual Rural Health Conference has been reviewed and approved for
13.5 continuing education contact hours. NCHEC provider number SEP2877.
Social Workers
The 31st Annual Rural Health Conference is approved for 12.25 general
contact hour(s) of continuing education credit by the National
Association of Social Workers Louisiana Chapter as authorized by the
Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.
Health Care Executives
The National Rural Health Association is authorized to award 14.25
hours of pre-approved Category II (non-ACHE) continuing education
credit for this program toward advancement, or recertification in the
American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants wishing to have
the continuing education hours applied toward Category II credit should
indicate their attendance when submitting application to the American
College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.
The NRHA's Rural Health Clinic Conference and Critical Access Hospital Conference are held in conjunction each October. These popular conferences include educational sessions geared toward hospital and clinic administrators, financial officers, or clinical directors on topics such as billing and reimbursement, leadership and board governance, recruitment and retention, and survey and certification. The NRHA will seek continuing education credit from the American College of Healthcare Executives for both of these conferences.
Phsyician Assistants
The American Academy of Physician Assistants accepts prescribed credit from the AAFP.

More Event Information
"Domestic and Sexual Violence in Rural Settings," a four-part teleconference/webinar series, will be available in May. The series will promote the importance of domestic violence prevention strategies within the health care setting, and will raise the visibility of domestic violence as a public health issue.
