Rural Health Topic

Clinical Issues

Rural clinical issues focus on the primary concerns of access, quality, and equity. Rural health care's disparities in clinician access can be answered best by improving recruitment of all primary care providers. The National Rural Health Association has a long history on advocating for rural equity in the Medicare program, providing leadership on rural recruitment efforts, and ensuring quality healthcare in a rural setting.

For individuals searching for additional linkages on rural clinical issues, the NRHA has a Clinical Constituency Group, which is chaired by Raymond G. Christensen, MD. Dr. Christensen can be contacted at: rchriste@d.umn.edu

In addition, a special interest group of the NRHA committed to advancing the training of physicians for rural practice through network development and advocacy is the Rural Medical Educators Group. It is chaired by James G. Boulger, PhD, Professor, University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. Dr. Boulger can be contacted at: jboulger@d.umn.edu

For legislative and regulatory information pertaining to rural clinician issues, please contact Tim Fry at: fry@NRHArural.org
